The Monastery of Panagias Nikous :

The monastery of Panagia Nikous is 800m
from Hora. Its name probably dates back to
the Byzantine period and comes from the
name of Panagia Nikopios, which means
Virgin Mary who brings the victory.

According to the legend, the icon, which is
now in St. Markus of Venice, was brought to
the island during the time of the fall of
Constantinople.

Today the church is preserved and host one
of the three big festivals that take place on
the 15th of August.
