The Monastery of Panagia Kanala :

The monastery of Panagia Kanala is
dedicated to the Virgin Mary of Kanala, who
is the patroness saint of the island.

It is build on the rock, near the village of Kanala
to which it gave its name. The icon of Virgin
Mary – which is of the post Byzantine era –
is believed to do wonders and it is hung with
offerings.


One of the three big festivals, on the 15th of August, takes place at Panagia Kanala.
